Since I touched on Barak Obama in my last blog entry, I decided to post this photo I came across this afternoon. It was one of many amazing photos taken during Obama's campaign. I would like to introduce the Song of the Day category which will begin with a classic from the Stevie Wonder collection. The title of the song is "Love's in Need of Love Today".
I was inspired to use this song by the recent election and the result of Barak Obama winning the presidential candidacy. It was a beautiful moment for our country, and also other parts of the world, as they celebrated the victory along with the Obama supporters here in the States. As we elected the first African-American president, we showed ourselves that we have come along way in The United States of America. I just hope we don't all believe that we are now finished and there is no more work to do.
Since the election, there have been many hate crimes due to anger from those who oppose having an African-American president. There are also wars taking place across the globe that are wiping out hundreds of people each day, terrorism at home and abroad, and dictators who strive to make their countries nuclear powers. It is indeed a very dark world we live in, but the light still exist. Even in complete darkness, a small spark of light can still be seen. What that means is that as long as there is some good, evil can never completely take over.
So I challenge everyone to try to make an effort to project your inner light to help brighten up the world. Change only comes when we take an active role and help to bring about that change. Our personal efforts might not effect the conflicts in Africa right now or change the heart of a corrupt dictator, but you might touch someone, a child perhaps, who will grow up and one day change the world due to the positive effect you had on them as a child. We are all connected, regardless of our skin color, sex, or religious background. Let's do our part to bring some love back into the world and in the words of Stevie wonder himself, "love's in need of love today, don't delay, send yours in right away!"
