Lately, I have been recognizing that this Green Movement that is talked about so much now is affecting my thoughts more and more. I see the importance of it, and although I have not taken huge steps in being "green", I am taking steps to help our environment. Whether it's conserving energy by limiting the use of lights in my apartment to recycling plastic bottles and aluminum cans, plus many other Eco-friendly actions, I am doing my part to help.

I was on a flight from Los Angeles to Oakland last Thursday for my sister's wedding that took place this past weekend. I always keep my pen and notebook handy during flights since the view from my airplane window never ceases to inspire my imagination, making me reflect on the beauty of this planet and motivating me to write poetry. My Thursday flight was no exception.

I wrote this poem while staring at the clouds and the mountainous regions below me. I call it "Home".

"Home"

My mind is opened, expanded, my home has demanded justice,
my eyes focused on green, not money or envy I mean,
but the life we mistreat with our careless actions,
my home is frustrated and building up heat from pressure it carries deep,
ready to explode, I can still see its beauty
through the sadness, it fails to understand our madness,
I am guilty myself, but correcting my past mistakes makes a difference
and I do feel the passion to help my home, as people roam with no clue on what to do,
not knowing if they can do anything at all, but small things make a difference,
it doesn't have to be huge to make an impact, the fact is that together
our small actions combine to make substantial changes for the good,
we should start today to make a better way for the future,
for your home and my home, this planet belongs to us and we belong to it,
let us get going to guarantee life keeps flowing...

I saw this commercial on TV a while back and recently saw it again on Youtube.com. I decided to post it because it accurately illustrates what I did by following my dreams and starting my own business at the end of 2007. It is a simple commercial, but the meaning is so powerful.

We all must realize that our in order for our dreams to come true, we must first wake up and take action to make them a possibility.

A colleague of mine send me this link today through IM that I would like to share with you all.

Normally I get about 30 links a day from him that lead to articles or images that are either so funny that I have to summon everything in my being to not choke to death from laughter, or so bizarre that the rest of my day seems a bit off after the point of clicking the link.

The article he sent me today was very interesting, but not in a comical or weird way. It was interesting from a business point of view.

The article covers a strategy that the online shoe company, Zappos, uses to filter out their recently hired employees who do not think long-term. It's very clever.

To read about their strategy, click the link below. After you read the article, ask yourself...what choice would you make?

Why Zappos Pays New Employees to Quit—And You Should Too

A few weeks ago I was feeling unmotivated and uncreative. That happens every now and then, but I always bounce back in time. I was always comfortable with the fact that my creative spark would be dim at times. Now that I am a business owner whose business relies on that creative spark being nice and bright, I realized that I needed to find to way to keep my self inspired and in a creative mindset when I feel like the spark is beginning to dim.

After searching on Google with the two keywords, "creativity" and "inspire", I discovered that there are many sites online dedicated to motivating and inspiring people.

After visiting several of these "inspire" sites, one really stood out to me. The site is 43things.com. On this site, you can create a list of all the goals you would like to achieve in your life. There is also a section that lists the goals you have completed. This site has been great for me because it allowed me to list all my goals where I can always reference them and be reminded what I need to do.

You can visit the site and see my personal page with my list by clicking the link below.

If you are having trouble following through when it comes to your goals or you lose track of what your goals are do to a hectic schedule, I suggest joining this site and making your list today. It has been a great help to me by keeping me motivated and focused on my goals.

When I created the Corner 10 Productions blog site, it was with the purpose to help motivate and inspire those who visit the site. Many of my entries are poems, quotes, images, and videos I have discovered online that motivated and inspired me. Other entries are original writings that I felt like sharing in hopes of touching others with my words.

Today's entry features a poem I actually published to the blog on my personal Myspace page some time ago. It is very personal to me and although strange, is based around true events that happened to me one night a couple years back. I was so touched by what had happened to me then, but I kept the experience to myself for some time before finally writing it down.

I am now posting it to this blog because I believe fits with the theme of this site. Whenever I read this poem, I am inspired to live my life to the fullest and enjoy the time I have here with family and friends.

So with no further delay, I present the poem "Dream Visit"....

I feel like I need to pay a visit to my Grandpa's grave site
I think to those days when we used to hang tight
back in the 80s when my cousin and I stayed nights
and days at his place, yo Fabe, you remember them days, right?
he came to see me in a dream about a year ago
he spoke to tell me although he's gone, he's still here, ya know
I woke up that night crying because I knew it was real
we sat down in his old house and he asked me how I feel
I replied, I'm doing good but I wish that you could
have seen me graduate from high school and survive the hood
I wish you could have seen me in college and earn two degrees
I wish you could - he cut me off and said, grandson please
I was there when you walked the stage, there for your first love
I've been by your side through your struggles, watching from above
I'm here right now in this dream, call it a favor from God
with Him all is possible although to you this seems odd
I'm checking in on you to let you know that I'm proud
I know you're still sad but you know about dark clouds
they have silver linings, just reminding you the sun will shine
I'm not here in the physical but you are still on my mind
Grandson, you have grown to be a nice young man
and tell your mom that I'll try to visit her when I can
it's time for me to go, Kris, I'm so glad that I could meet
you at the age you are now, goodbye until the next time we speak.
