I wrote these lyrics a couple years back while reflecting on those positive aspects of life from the my past, present, and my thoughts of the future that make me feel like I am walking on the clouds. It's a dedication to those things that make you feel so good, it feels like you're floating.
Enjoy!
Floatin'
written by Kristopher Evans to be featured on the CD "Analytics" by Detrimental Storm
Like the sound of a baby laughing, like when you were a child,
your mom kissing you good night, a thought that brings back things
from your early days, early lessons from her,
blessings from above, like when odd situations occur,
like being broke, and finding cash in your pants from last week
in the hamper, like when you don't let bad days damper
your spirit, like God talking to you and you hear it,
like when you conquer what you're afraid of, and no longer fear it,
like your first crush, first kiss, first touch, first love,
like all the above...amazing,
like facing the school bully, droppin' him with one punch,
no longer giving up your money for lunch,
like shedding a tear after you hear your girl say "I will"
to your proposal...how that must feel,
like getting a record deal when that's all you've ever dreamed,
like watching your favorite team play and the other team gets creamed,
like winning the lottery, gotta be a great joy,
like the doc saying, "congratulations, you got a healthy baby boy",
like graduation day and seeing Mom smile,
like battling in ciphers and you got the illest style,
like having a strong family with ties never severed,
man...I can go on forever, It's like...I'm floating,
but there's a lot more that I wrote man, to float,
like a weekend on a cruise boat
to the Bahamas, like having a chick with no drama,
like living in a world with no Osama
Bin Laden, like living in a world where no one got guns,
like thoughts of times with past love ones that will never be forgotten,
like the grip of my grandpop’s hand, who helped me be the man
I am today, being all I can,
like a seeing a dime piece, and knowing exactly what to say
to get her in the mood to play in a grown up way,
like in record sales, making a killing,
without selling out, raising your clout and collecting millions,
like understanding what life is truly about,
the real things, that express genuine feelings,
like college nights with friends that become life long,
like when your bad days get better just by hearing the right song,
it's like having your own zone to escape the frustrations of this planet,
like never having to panic, like, it's like...I'm floating...
