"In the modern world of business, it is useless to be a creative original thinker unless you can also sell what you create. Management cannot be expected to recognize a good idea unless it is presented to them by a good salesman.

- David M. Ogilvy

This is a poem I wrote some time ago, but it still applies to my life. It's about striving to be better than you were yesterday and acheiving all that you can in life by increasing your knowledge and constantly improving yourself.

--------------------

"Clear Vision"

I live my life with clear vision, fear missing my soul,
I hold knowledge, that stays polished to abolish the mold,
and mental mildew, while some still do hold on to ignorance,
and the little sense that they have stays masked and hidden in
the darkest part of the brain, but I maintain to be on the go,
so I can elevate minds to find what is needed to grow,
conversations with older generations, taking notes with patience,
information will be erased when empty dreams are chased and
never caught, I was taught that life will go on without you,
so I feel the way to keep up is constantly trying to outdo
my past achievements, self-esteem is the first thing that's needed,
because even followers can rise up in a group and lead it,
if you have a vision, then clearly see it, then in your grasp, it can be
with hard work and dedication, positive results you will see,
remember that wisdom comes from knowledge, so knowledge you must find,
to find knowledge, you must develop your mind.

I am certain that I will never possess the natural talent of my favorite musical artist, Stevie Wonder, and that is something I can live with. I am content just being able to enjoy his great music.

My favorite song by Mr. Wonder is "As". It is a song that expresses the overwelming power of love, using simple but very vivid metaphors to explain how long he will be in love with his woman.

I told myself that the day I can repeat the words in "As"  to a woman and mean it all about her, that will be the day I'm looking at the woman who I will spend the rest of my life with.

Read the lyrics for yourself and feel Stevie Wonder's words flow through your soul. Enjoy!

-----------

"As" by Stevie Wonder

As around the sun the earth knows she's revolving
And the rosebuds know to bloom in early May
Just as hate knows love's the cure
You can rest your mind assure
That I'll be loving you always
As now can't reveal the mystery of tomorrow
But in passing will grow older every day
Just as all is born is new
Do know what I say is true
That I'll be loving you always

Until the rainbow burns the stars out in the sky---ALWAYS
Until the ocean covers every mountain high---ALWAYS
Until the dolphin flies and parrots live at sea---ALWAYS
Until we dream of life and life becomes a dream
Did you know that true love asks for nothing
Her acceptance is the way we pay
Did you know that life has given love a guarantee
To last through forever and another day
Just as time knew to move on since the beginning
And the seasons know exactly when to change
Just as kindness knows no shame
Know through all your joy and pain
That I'll be loving you always
As today I know I'm living but tomorrow
Could make me the past but that I mustn't fear
For I'll know deep in my mind
The love of me I've left behind Cause I'll be loving you always

Until the day is night and night becomes the day---ALWAYS
Until the trees and seas just up and fly away---ALWAYS
Until the day that 8x8x8 is 4---ALWAYS
Until the day that is the day that are no more
Did you know that you're loved by somebody?
Until the day the earth starts turning right to left---ALWAYS
Until the earth just for the sun denies itself
I'll be loving you forever
Until dear Mother Nature says her work is through---ALWAYS
Until the day that you are me and I am you---AL~~~~~~WA~~
~~~~~AA~~~~~~~AA~~~~
Until the rainbow burns the stars out in the sky~~~~~AA~~~~
~~~~AA~~~~~~~AA~~~~~~~~~AA~~~~~~~YS~~ALWAYS
We all know sometimes lifes hates and troubles
Can make you wish you were born in another time and space
But you can bet you life times that and twice its double
That God knew exactly where he wanted you to be placed
so make sure when you say you're in it but not of it
You're not helping to make this earth a place sometimes called Hell
Change your words into truths and then change that truth into love
And maybe our children's grandchildren
And their great-great grandchildren will tell
I'll be loving you.

Hello. I hope everyone is feeling good today and pushing forward toward their goals. I just wanted to share a website that was created by an old friend, Tobias Henry. Tobias and I go back to high school and we also went to the same art school. Although we don't talk as much as we used to and live many miles away from each other, I keep in touch with him through his site, eclipticsight.com.

I could go on explaining what his site is about, but I'll use his words instead...

-----------------------

"Welcome to a new experience in review sites. Ecliptic Sight was born out of a simple idea, as most things are to only give information of things that are good. There are many sites out there that have more negative reviews than positive reviews so we know what not to buy but don’t have enough content about what we should purchase. Enters Ecliptic Sight to fill that gap, to inform you about the great buys.

Ecliptic Sight’s goal is to review video games, music, films, comics, events and anything else that should be recognized. Ecliptic Sight is committed to giving information on products and services that are good if not great. Ecliptic Sight does not want to waste our energy writing how bad something is while Ecliptic Sight could be using that time to find something new and exciting to bring you. Does Ecliptic Sight like everything it has bought or seen? No that would be naïve; there are tons of terrible things out there. Ecliptic Sight just thinks about the saying that just about every child learns in grade school; if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
This is Ecliptic Sight’s mission to bring everyone to the mind set that there are excellent video games to play, good music to listen to, great films to watch, nice comics to read and better events to attend. That is why Ecliptic Sight’s statement of: Observe The Path Of Light should make sense. It means stop dwelling on the negative and see what is good in life." - Tobias Henry, eclipticsight.com

-----------------------

So, when you need that fix of old school to the latest sounds in Hip-hop, or a reminder of those classic games you grew up on to trailers of the newest video games on the market, then you should visit eclipticsight.com and "observe the path of light!"

"The man who makes a success of an important venture never wails for the crowd. He strikes out for himself. It takes nerve, it takes a great lot of grit; but the man that succeeds has both. Anyone can fail. The public admires the man who has enough confidence in himself to take a chance. These chances are the main things after all. The man who tries to succeed must expect to be criticized. Nothing important was ever done but the greater number consulted previously doubted the possibility. Success is the accomplishment of that which most people think can't be done."

"When I am working on a problem I never think about beauty. I only think about how to solve the problem. But when I have finished, if the solution is not beautiful, I know it is wrong."

The last several months I found myself depressed as I woke up in the morning, preparing to deal with my daily commute from West LA to West Hollywood to engage myself in the field of motion capture. Although motion capture is a very cutting edge industry that has offered me a vast knowledge of the production process and allowed me to rub shoulders with a nice list of celebrities, it seems as though that same cutting edge is slicing off a piece of my creative spirit day by day. My job is very technical and I rarely have the opportunity to express myself creatively. The only chances are when I volunteer to design a brochure for the company or take the time to re-design the company website, which I now assume was shot down by our corporate office since the very mediocre original site is still up months after I submitted my updated version with majority support from my office co-workers and the manager. I can feel myself about to go on a tangent, so I will get back to the point I initially intended on making with this entry.

On one particular Monday, I woke up more depressed than usual with the realization of another week of heading in to work. I remember praying the night before, and many other nights before that, for a solution to my depression. Do I look in the direction of medication, the one choice I should pick as a last resort, do I start a new job search, or do I just suck it up and face everyday with a smile, even though that's the last thing I feel like doing.

So on this more than average morning of depression, I dragged myself into the shower, unenthusiastically brushed my teeth and hair, and put on my clothes with no concern if they were ironed or not, when usually I iron everything. Like every other morning, I took the shortcut behind my apartment complex to get to my car in the parking garage. Already in a disgruntled disposition, I tripped, which would have made my mood worse if I hadn't seen what I tripped over right way. I looked down in amazement as I picked up the object I tripped over. It was a book titled, “How to Start, Run, and Profit from your Home Business”. It was there in my path for me to trip over, there FOR ME to trip over!

Sometimes when we pray for things we feel like we don't get answers, but sometimes the answers come in strange forms. The answer for my prayers were already known to me, but I just needed to be reminded. I always believed that success with my career will come with creative freedom and entrepreneurship, and that sign I received was the stamp of approval.

In the meantime, I have to stay positive and realize that what I am doing now is a stepping stone for greater things to come. Although I am still in the same work situation at this time, starting by own business on the side and the processes I'm going through to get it off the ground are great uplifters for me and I'm so excited about the future!

A new year is here and it's time for a new me! I know, I know...we all say that around this time, but I am serious this year. A couple of weeks ago, I picked up my business license and registered my business name. This was the first step to the new me in '08.

For years I told myself I will start my own business, though being halted every year by the troublesome twins, doubt and fear. Both doubt and fear always found a way to whisper their cryptic words in my ear as I started to make plans for my leap into entrepreneurship. Deciphering the words, I began to focus on the competition in my field of choice, whether I would make enough money to live on, and many other factors that cause businesses to fail.

This year, I am not letting doubt or fear discourage me from pursuing my dreams. I still have to keep in the mind the negatives, but at the same time, not let the positives of running my own business get overshadowed by them. The truth is that the positives outweigh the negatives greatly.

I am still working a full time day job as I begin to walk down, or rather say, walk up this new path to entrepreneurship. When I first decided to push forward with my dream, I was so invigorated with the idea that I planned on leaving my job and going in full fledge. As I planned my strategy, I realized the smart thing was to keep my day job while developing my business and prepping it for success.

I have nearly 10 years experience as an Audio/visual Designer and have worked with a wide variety of clients. Creating eye-catching and ear-enticing work is something I'm very comfortable with. The scary part for me is convincing enough potential clients of that fact to sustain a living for myself. Even scarier, though the ultimate goal, is the steps to take when I surpass that goal of convincing enough potential clients to sustain a living for myself. Who do I hire to help me with the work load? Should I hire an office assistance? These are questions that should be asked way down the line, but I always think about the future so these question, and many more, are in the back of my mind at all times.

I'm sharing my thoughts about this dream I'm beginning to live not only to let you know that I'm no longer afraid to take these steps, but to offer some hope to others out there like me. I hope others who have a dream they wish to live or a goal in life they want to achieve pursue that dream and work to reach that goal. Life is what you make it so why not decide to start this year by making yours what you want it to be.

I wish everyone a blessed 2008 and I pray that you all gain more steps towards living your dreams and accomplishing your goals this year.

God bless.
